Inspired by: I am always inspired by women space pioneers be it Sally Ride, Mae Jemison or Kalpana Chawla. My art depicts how the barrier between Earth and Mars is overcome by the various space missions – this is depicted by the spacecraft breaking and flying through the barrier wall between Earth and Mars as we look at colonizing Mars. It also depicts how barriers for gender and race are broken by the space programs as my art depicts an Indian-American woman at the helm of the mission. For this artwork, I am inspired by Dr. Swathi Mohan from the Jet Propulsion Laboratory division.
